Phones stay home. Always.
Parents agree that camp should be a place to “unplug” from technology. This policy isn't punitive — it's protective. Research is crystal clear: Kids are healthier, more present, and more socially connected when they step away from screens.
At Sugar Creek, this step away lasts not an hour, but five days. It’s part of the reason kids come home more energized, confident, and connected. And it’s one of the proven “5 Fundamental Characteristics of Effective Camps.” Your child’s confidence and real skills grow exponentially when off-screen for a week in a healthy, safe environment. Unplugging is crucial for giving your kids the lasting benefits of an experience like this, including healthy social and psychological development, resilient confidence, lower anxiety, and empathy. Many kids come back and say it’s actually one of the BEST things about camp!
Homesick? Parents can be confident that dedicated, trained caregivers are present with them day and night, ready to respond, and faster than ever to communicate with you as soon as questions or concerns arise. Let’s make sure our kids this year can be firmly on the path to grow strong, healthy skills and confidence for faith & life in safe, lasting ways.

Frequently Asked Camp Questions

Registration is available online, by phone, or by mail. We recommend registering online for the quickest and easiest experience. If you have questions or need help with registration, our camp office is happy to assist.

Sugar Creek offers programs for children and youth entering Kindergarten through 12th grade, with different programs designed specifically for elementary, middle school, and high school campers. We also offer Family & Grandparent Camp for campers of all ages.

No. :-) Campers of ALL backgrounds and faith experiences are welcome (and common) at Sugar Creek. Summer programs at Bible camp do include Bible study, worship, prayer, and opportunities to explore Christian faith in a welcoming and supportive environment. However, there are NO pressured “altar calls” or forced beliefs. Respect is key to listening and growing. Instead of high pressure, we believe God’s Holy Spirit inspires each of us through the Word (scripture), fellow believers (faithful community), creation (nature…and us) and Prayer (talking with, acting with, and listening to God) - cultivating faith in God’s love through Jesus Christ. Bible Camp is not a graduate level theological seminary requiring lots of prior knowledge and church experiences. Camp is designed to be an experience of God’s love - and a taste of the elements of Christian life together. It’s also a safe place to explore the GREAT questions, thoughtful doubts, beautiful joys, and signs of God’s Spirit already at work in kids’ lives. Sugar Creek is here to be a powerful, unique, important step - but only one step - in the lifelong journey of our relationship with God.

Traditional overnight camp pricing includes lodging, meals, activities, programming, and the full camp experience. Some specialty programs and day camps have different or fixed pricing, so be sure to check the details for your selected program. More details on pricing can be found on our Cost & Camperships page.
-
Sugar Creek uses voluntary three-tier pricing so more families can experience camp. For 2026, traditional week-long programs are offered at $795, $595, or $495. The tier you choose does not change your child's camp experience. If your family can afford the highest tier (true cost of camp), your contribution helps preserve funds to make camp more accessible to other children whose families may have greater need.
-
God provides. We don't want cost to keep a family from giving their children a Sugar Creek experience. Camperships (camp scholarships) may be available through your home congregation, and additional assistance may be available through Sugar Creek. Contact us to learn more or complete a brief Campership Request.
Thanks to parents, grandparents, churches, and donors who want to bless more kids, it’s just as true for kids whose families may not yet have a relationship with a local church. God overcomes hurdles. Even if you “can’t afford it” you get to go to camp. :-)
-
Absolutely! Campers are welcome to register for multiple sessions, and many campers return for more than one week each summer.
-
Let’s work together. You can describe your child’s dietary restrictions, allergies, medications, or other medical needs during the registration process. Our kitchen and healthcare staff work with families to accommodate a variety of dietary and medical needs.

Camp happens rain or shine! Sugar Creek has hosted camping every summer day & week the past 60 years! We’ve got it covered. Many activities continue in different forms during rainy weather. Rest assured, at Sugar Creek the cabins and lodges are safely above flood areas. It was built well from the start. For camping, remember to pack a raincoat or poncho and clothing that can get wet or dirty… and a camera… for the awesome sunsets over the valley that follow soon after a rain. :)

For summer camp registration, a $100 deposit is required to secure your program week. Payments are refundable until May 31, 2027. After May 31, the deposit becomes nonrefundable.
