Safety & Accreditation
Your Camper is in Good Hands.
Accredited. Trained. Prepared. We take the trust you place in us more seriously than anything else we do — and we've built the systems, standards, and staff to back it up.
ACA Accreditation
Sugar Creek Bible Camp holds full accreditation from the American Camp Association (ACA) — the national organization that sets, verifies, and enforces comprehensive standards for health, safety, programming, and staff training at camps across the country.
ACA accreditation is not automatic, required, or permanent. It requires a regular and very thorough visit and review process and yearly renewal. Sugar Creek has consistently met or exceeded 400+ standards of safety and quality annually for over 30 years. We are dedicated to continual improvement in our programs and facilities.
Staff Screening & Training
Every person who works with campers at Sugar Creek undergoes a thorough background check before employment begins. All staff complete comprehensive training before the summer season begins, covering:
Child protection and mandatory reporting
Faith formation and program leadership
Emergency procedures and first response
Camper care and cabin management
Water safety awareness
Health & Medical Care
On-site qualified healthcare staff during all summer programs
Medications managed and administered by health staff — never left with campers
Clear protocols for medical emergencies, including contact with families
Dietary accommodations available with advance notice — please share all restrictions at registration
Accessible housing available for campers with mobility needs — contact us early
Water Safety
All swimming and water activities are supervised by certified lifeguards. Our pool and waterfront areas are maintained according to ACA standards and Wisconsin state guidelines.
Tech Free Policy
All personal electronics — cell phones, tablets, smartwatches — stay home during camp. Screen-free time gives campers the space to be fully present, form real relationships, and engage with their faith without distraction.
Inclusion & Accessibility
We are committed to accommodating campers and retreat guests of all abilities. Families with mobility or accessibility needs should contact us early in the registration process so we can prepare appropriately.
