Horses at Sugar Creek Bible Camp
For generations, horses have been an essential part of Sugar Creek Bible Camp, creating lasting memories for campers through pony and trail rides, and scenic wagon rides through the valley.
Starting from a humble tobacco barn in 1966, the horse program gained new life in 2010 with the construction of a dedicated stable, made possible by your generous support. This facility has expanded opportunities for campers and guests to bond with these magnificent animals.
In 2022, Sugar Creek welcomed a Barn Manager to ensure the horse programs continue to thrive. Today, horses remain at the heart of Sugar Creek, embodying the spirit of adventure and connection that defines your camp experience.
Whether it’s the first time riding a horse or the 100th, campers who ride at Sugar creek gain lifelong skills of empathy, healthy esteem, self-discipline, and a sense of wonder about nature. These values help strengthen our work as people of God, no matter our ages. During the summer, campers in nearly every program will have the chance to experience time with the beloved horses. For more details on how horses are integrated into the summer programs, visit the Summer Camp page.
