Did you know that this summer, about 1,468 plates of spaghetti were served on Thursday nights? Or that year-round staff drove an impressive 2,281 miles to recruit the 2024 Summer Staff? And let’s not forget the Sugar Creek horses, who put in 55 hours of pony rides and an astounding 188 hours of trail rides this past year!
These numbers may seem ordinary at first glance, but they hint at the extraordinary work it takes to make summer camp happen at your Bible Camp. Behind every meal served, mile driven, and hour spent on horseback is a story of transformation—a story of life-changing experiences for people of all ages here in this Sacred Valley.
Take, for example, the Horse Camper who arrived only to realize they were terrified of horses. What could have been the most challenging week of their life became a journey of grace and growth. With the support of caring staff, that camper learned to trust themselves, embrace discomfort, and practice resilience. Day by day, they grew more confident, eventually riding a horse all the way to the bluff—a moment of triumph they’ll never forget!
Stories like this happen every week at Sugar Creek. They’re woven into every yard of friendship bracelet string, every snack shared at Day Camp, every net used to collect frogs from the pond, and every dollar given to support this ministry. These small pieces add up to something truly transformative: a living message of a good and gracious God who calls us into loving community with all of creation.
