 Program

bulletSugar Creek is located in Ferryville, WI - six miles from the Mississippi river in the hills, bluffs and prairies of SW WI.
bulletWe operate a de-centralized program, which means we have several small villages of 21-26 campers.  Each counselor has 6-8 campers they are responsible for.
bulletWe serve about 2500 campers each summer with our resident and day camp programs.
bulletWe hire approximately 65 summer staff.
bulletThe positions we hire are for leadership staff, counselors, kitchen staff, wranglers, team driver, naturalist, arts & crafts director, lifeguard, chaplain, pack-out coordinator, and staff-in-training coordinator.  Staff job descriptions.

Qualifications

bulletCommitment to Jesus Christ as Lord—you must be willing and able to share your life in Christ with others.
bulletOpenness—to be open to other people whose lifestyle may be different from yours, and to situations and experiences which may be new to you.
bulletDesire—to help other people of all ages, and especially youth.
bulletStaff do not have to be Lutheran, but they must affirm traditional ELCA Lutheran theology.
bulletAt least one year post high school.

Salary-2010

bulletCounseling, Kitchen Staff & Support Staff: $2200 for 10 weeks 
bulletVillage Leader: $2300 for 10 weeks and 2 days
bulletAssistant Program Director: $2450 for 10 weeks and 3 days
bulletAll staff receive room and board

Time Commitment-2010

bulletMay 31 - August 7, 2010 (Leadership staff will be required to start earlier, and some staff will have the opportunity to work our family camp programs in mid-late August.)
bulletTwo weeks of staff training May 31-June 12
TRAINING IS MANDATORY. STAFF MUST ATTEND THE ENTIRE TIME.
bulletWork week is from 12 noon on Sunday to approximately 6pm on Friday. (Day camp staff will be required to start earlier on Sundays.)
bulletStaff will be required to work two weekends during the summer.  June 26-27, and the other one by choice of date.
bulletStaff will be expected to participate (singing or skits) in at least one Sunday morning worship service.

 

Application Process

bulletFill out and send in the application. 
bulletHave two reference forms filled out and sent to the camp.
bulletInterview with Sugar Creek staff.
bulletIf hired, a health form MUST be completed and given to the camp before arrival at camp.
